G of the 27th U.S. Colored Infantry, enlisted on 4/9/1864, was "appt'd Cpl then reduced," and was discharged on 9/21/1865, "mustered out with company." Other information taken from the Westwood printout; check the original burial register for additional data. A brief biography appears on p. 14 of William E. Bigglestone, They Stopped in Oberlin: Black Residents and Visitors of the Nineteenth Century (Scottsdale, AZ: Innovation Group, 1981).
