Biographical Information

According to Burton W. Nesbitt, volunteer Lorain County coordinator for the National Graves Registration Project of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, he served as a private in Co. K of the U.S. Colored Infantry, enlisted on 7/29/1864, and was discharged on 9/21/1865, "mustered out with company." A brief biography appears on p. 67 of William E. Bigglestone, They Stopped in Oberlin: Black Residents and Visitors of the Nineteenth Century (Scottsdale, AZ: Innovation Group, 1981).
