Comments

On the Westwood map and printout he is listed as "Benjamin White." According to the original Westwood burial register, "Benjamin F. White, a native of New York and resident of Oberlin, and a member of "U.S. Vols. & Mich. Battery," was buried in K-081 on 11/28/1863 (the 4th person to be buried in the then-new cemetery), having died of "chronic diarrhea" at the age of 28 years, 8 months, 17 days. An unsourced newspaper article states that Franklin "died from disease contracted in rebel prison." See Oberlin's Soldiers Monument (http://www.oberlin.edu/EOG/Civil%20War%20Monument/soldiers_monument.htm).
