Comments
[Military marker] Buried in Section G-031-01
Biographical Information
Burton W. Nesbitt, volunteer Lorain County coordinator for the National Graves Registration Project of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, has no additional information on him. Because this is the only "Warren Chambers" or "W. D. Chambers" listed in the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System database, <http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm>, SMK assumes that he is the same person as the W. D. Chambers buried in G-31-01 and that this military marker is only a memorial. Check the original burial register. A brief biography of the Chambers family appears on pp. 35-41 of William E. Bigglestone, They Stopped in Oberlin: Black Residents and Visitors of the Nineteenth Century (Scottsdale, AZ: Innovation Group, 1981).
