Biographical Information
According to Burton W. Nesbitt, volunteer Lorain County coordinator for the National Graves Registration Project of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, he served as a private in Co. F of the 103rd Ohio Infantry, enlisted on 8/6/1862, and was discharged on 6/12/1865 ("Mustered out at Cleveland, Oh. to date by order of War Dept."). Phillips, Oberlin Colony: The Story of a Century (Oberlin, Ohio: n.p., 1933), esp. pp. 218-239.
