Biographical Information
According to Burton W. Nesbitt, volunteer Lorain County coordinator for the National Graves Registration Project of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, he served in Co. B of the 1st New York Infantry. According to an unsourced newspaper clipping, "List of Soldiers Buried in Westwood Cemetery," on the Oberlin Public Library Westwood microfilm reel, "Henry Clark, 1st New York Mounted Rifles. Died from wounds and bad treatment in rebel prisons." He is listed on Oberlin's Soldiers' Monument as "Henry Clarke, 1st NY RI." No "Henry Clark" or "Henry Clarke" is in the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System database, <http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm>, either for the 1 New York Infantry or the 1 New York Mounted Rifles.
