Biographical Information
According to Burton W. Nesbitt, volunteer Lorain County coordinator for the National Graves Registration Project of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, he served as a private in Battery E of the 1st Ohio Light Artillery, enlisted on 8/23/1861, 'died at Bacon Creek, Ky." and was "interred in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Ky." According to an unsourced newspaper clipping, "List of Soldiers Buried in Westwood Cemetery," on the Oberlin Public Library Westwood microfilm reel, he died of "disease brought on by exposure." His name is on Oberlin's Soldiers' Monument. Reburial, presumably.
